The Forest Police Act of 1876, passed almost 150 years ago, marked the beginning of strict protection of forest areas in Switzerland. Following its revision in 1902, it has applied to the whole country. Agricultural and forestry law expert Roland Norer says in the interview that regulating the various functions of forests in a single law is beneficial. In addition, provisions on clearance compensation offer a flexible framework that also allows accounting for regional needs.
